
Pack Finishes in Eighth Place at General Hackler

Junior Stephen Franken is the top NC State finisher in a tie for seventh place
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The NC State men's golf team shot a final round 295 to finish in eighth place Sunday at the General Hackler Championship held at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
Playing against a tough field that had 14 of the 15 teams ranked in the golfstat rankings, the Pack shot a 290-292-295—877 to finish two shots behind East Carolina.
Eighth-ranked Georgia Tech won the tournament with a team score of 16-under par while second-ranked Texas A&M finished in second place at 11-under. Virginia finished in third place at five-under as those were the only three teams to shoot under par for the tournament.
Junior Stephen Franken recorded a one-over par 73 in the final round to finish in a tie for seventh place with a three round score of three-under par. It is the fifth consecutive top-10 finish this year for the Raleigh native.
Freshman Easton Paxton paced the Pack on Sunday with a final round score of one-under par 71. Paxton finished in a tie for 20th place which is the second-best finish this season for the lone freshman on the NC State roster.
Benjamin Shipp finished in a tie for 45th place with a final scorecard of 72-74-76—222, while Nolan Mills Jr., finished in a tie for 59th place with a final scorecard of 76-75-75—226.
Christian Salzar founded out the Pack lineup in a tie for 81st place.
Georgia Tech's Chris Petefish won the tournament by two shots over his teammate Noah Norton and Virginia's Andrew Orischak.
The Pack is back in action next week at the Chris Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga., from Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18.
