The Wolfpack sophomore has earned weekly honors twice this season
GREENSBORO, N.C. - After a program record-breaking performance on Friday night, Elly Henes has been named the ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second time that Henes has received the honor during this indoor season.
Henes dominated the 5K at the UCS Invitational last weekend, running the race in 15:43.84 and setting a new NC State record in the event. Her converted time of 15:36.67 is good for third-best in the nation and stands as the top time in the conference. Her race not only wrote her into the record books, but it also earned her a first-place finish at the meet.
Henes last earned ACC honors on Feb. 6 after an impressive 3,000m performance at the Camel City Elite Invitational. She also holds the ACC's fastest time in that event.
The Wolfpack will be back in action this weekend as it heads to compete at the ACC Indoor Championships in Clemson, S.C.Â
