Wolfpack Notches Five Podium Finishes To Close Out Regular Indoor Season

NC State completed its final meet before the ACC Indoor Championships
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NC State track and field team completed its regular indoor season schedule with another solid outing at the UCS Invitational Saturday.

In a meet which was the Wolfpack's last chance to post conference qualifying marks, distance runners Erika Kemp and Megan Rempel added times that are good for competition at the ACC Indoor Championships next weekend.

In her first action of the indoor season, Kemp's 9:30.63 time came with a first-place 3000m finish. Rempel clocked a 4:50.68 conference-qualifying mile mark, and Gavin Gaynor added a podium finish on the track, placing third in the men's mile.

The field athletes also made noise at the UCS Invitational this afternoon, as all of the athletes competing in the weight throw finished in the top two. Joshua Davis won the event with a 75' 2.50" (22.92m) throw, and Tyson Fortenberry took second as he improved on his weight throw mark, setting a new PR of 60' 3.75" (18.38m).

Lauren Evans earned her second podium finish in as many days. Her 62' 5.25" (19.03m) mark was good for second place.
