NC State Splits Doubleheader with Tennessee & ECU

RALEIGH - The NC State women's tennis team hosted Tennessee and East Carolina Thursday, splitting the matches as it defeated ECU and fell to Tennessee at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

NC State vs. Tennessee:
The Wolfpack started doubles play strongly with the first finish coming as a victory for the seventh-ranked duo of Claudia Wiktorin and Anna Rogers at No. 1 as they defeated Sadie Hammond & Gabby Shuck 6-1. At the No. 2 and No. 3 positions the Wolfpack fell and Tennessee took the doubles point.

In singles, Anna Rogers won the first point for the team, winning her match handily against Sadie Hammond 6-2, 6-2. Taylor Bridges earned a hard-fought victory over Johanna Silva 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 while Adriana Reami took her match against Ariadna Riley 6-3, 6-4.

NC State vs. ECU:
The first two matches of the doubles point went to the Wolfpack. #7 Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin beat Lisa Hofbauer & Celia Ruiz 6-2 while Amanda Rebol and Adriana Reami dropped just one game, earning a 6-1 win over Maria Gomez and Alisa Diercksen 6-1.

Anna Rogers took her match against #53 Celia Ruiz to three sets, winning the tiebreaker to defeat Ruiz 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-8). Claudia Wiktorin won her singles match against Annija Veinsteina 6-1, 6-1. Helene Grimm prevailed over Hsia Ho Chiao 6-1, 6-0 as Adriana Reami defeated Lisa Hofbaeur 6-4, 6-0.
