HANGZHOU, China - Ryan Held wrapped up action at the 14th FINA World Championships by winning a gold medal with the United States men in the 4x100-meter medley relay Sunday.Â
Teaming up with Ryan Murphy, Andrew Wilson and Caeleb Dressel, Held once again served as the anchor to Team USA's relay team. His 45.23 100-meter split secured a first-place finish for the United States in the event in 3:19.98, an American record and Championships record time.
With the result in the 4x100-meter medley relay, Held ended his time at the international meet with four gold medals and was a part of three world record-setting relay teams. He also anchored the winning 4x100-meter freestyle relay team that set a new world record in 3:03.03 on Tuesday, and he went on to swim as a member of the United States' winning 4x50-meter mixed freestyle relay and 4x50-meter men's freestyle relay squads.Â
Held also helped set another American record as the anchor for the men's 4x50-meter medley relay, where he earned his fifth overall medal of the meet as Team USA took second place in the race.Â
