Elissa Cunane Named ACC Rookie of the Week

Freshman center averaged 15.5 points in two recent wins

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman center Elissa Cunane of the 10th-ranked NC State women's basketball team (10-0) was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon.

The Summerfield, N.C., native had a strong week for the Wolfpack in wins over Hampton (83-51) and at Georgetown (76-65). In just 18 minutes on the court during the win over Hampton, Cunane scored eight points on 2-4 shooting (4-6 FT), grabbed seven rebounds, swatted two blocks, and had one assist. During the Wolfpack's win at Georgetown, the freshman tied a career high with 23 points on 9-15 shooting (5-6 FT) while pulling down two rebounds, dishing out two assists, and swiping one steal.
For the week, she averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 11-19 (.579) from the field and 9-12 (.750) from the charity stripe.
Cunane is the first Wolfpack player to earn ACC Rookie of the Week honors since Aislinn Konig did so on Dec. 19 of the 2016-17 season.
Ranked 10th for the second straight week, the Wolfpack is next in action at home on Saturday, Dec. 15 when Maine comes to Raleigh. Tip-off from Kay Yow Court inside James T. Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum is scheduled for 6 pm with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.
