RALEIGH – Senior defender Simon Blotko of the NC State men's soccer team earned a place on the 2018 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday afternoon.
Blotko was selected to the NCAA Division I District Three First Team. District Three encompasses the states of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and Blotko was one of just 11 student-athletes selected. He currently carries a 3.75 grade-point average while studying Business Administration (Marketing concentration) and will graduate in the spring of 2019.

A consistent and dependable part of NC State's back line for the last four seasons, Blotko has played in 68 matches and more than 6,000 minutes for NC State throughout his career. Simon has also made strong offensive contributions to the program, providing 13 assists from a defensive position.
In addition to his great contributions on the field, Simon has also performed very well in the classroom. He has been on the ACC Academic Honor Roll for three straight seasons, was a member of the 2017 All-ACC Men's Soccer Academic Team, and appeared on the Dean's List every single semester of his time at NC State.
The Wolfpack is having another strong season under second-year head coach George Kiefer. NC State (9-6-3) won nine matches for the first time since 2011, hosted a match in the first round of the ACC Championship for the second straight season, and has picked up three wins and two draws against ranked teams. The team will find out its postseason opponent and location on Monday, Nov. 12 when the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Selection Show begins at 1 pm via a live stream on NCAA.com.
