RALEIGH – For the first time since the 1994-96 seasons, the NC State women's soccer team has earned its third consecutive berth to the NCAA Championship, as announced by the NCAA committee on Monday afternoon.
The Wolfpack will host Northwestern Friday at 7 p.m., marking the second straight year that the NCAA First Round will be held at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh. The match will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
The Pack ended the regular season with an RPI of 20, which included the toughest nonconference schedule in the country as well as the fourth-toughest overall schedule. NC State will enter the postseason with a 10-6-3 record.
Overall, NC State is 11-11-5 in the NCAA Championship and has advanced out of the first round 10 times. In 2016 the Pack made a historic run to the Sweet 16, and in 2017 went to the NCAA Second Round where it forced a matchup with fourth-seeded Princeton to penalty kicks.
