RALEIGH – Sophomore transfer Logan Morris has signed a financial aid agreement to join NC State's softball program, as announced by head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift on Tuesday morning.
Morris, a Sumter, S.C., native, will be eligible for the 2019 season. She spent one season at USC Upstate, and comes to Raleigh with three years remaining.
"Logan put up really good numbers in the box last year as a freshman," said Patrick-Swift. "With our hitting style and what she brings to the table it's a perfect match. Our staff has worked really hard to add the right type of players for this spring and she fits that."
The infielder played in 52 of 54 games, earning the starting nod in 51 of them. In 2018 she led the Spartans with a .364 batting average and 47 runs batted in, and also ranked among the top three in hits (52), doubles (8), home runs (8), slugging percentage (.587) and on-base percentage (.449).
USC Upstate posted a 35-19 record and contended for an Atlantic Sun Conference title last season, as Morris was a unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Freshman Team. She topped the league in RBI and ranked among the top seven in slugging percentage, on-base percentage and home runs.
Morris additionally collected a team-best 10 multi-RBI and 15 multi-hit games, including five outings with four or more RBI.
Prior to collegiate softball, Morris helped Thomas Sumter Academy to a pair of SCISA state championships while earning multiple SCISA Class AAA Player of the Year honors. She hit nearly 50 home runs and posted a .500 batting average or better all four years of her high school career.
She additionally lettered in basketball and received Team MVP accolades.
