Wolfpack freshman averaged 5.43 kills per set during the week
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second consecutive week, NC State volleyball's Jade Parchment has been named ACC Freshman of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.
In the final two matches of her rookie season with the Wolfpack, Parchment turned in a pair of matches with 19 kills to tally the match-high in both contests. Her 19 kills in NC State's 3-0 sweep against Syracuse were the most by any player in the ACC in a three-set match at the time and tied the rally-scoring era program record for kills in a three-set match.
More impressively, the outside hitter accomplished the feat against the conference's best blocking team as the Orange entered Wednesday's match ranked second in the nation with 3.07 blocks per set.
Her performance helped NC State tally a season-high 55 kills in the three-set match, which are the third most by an ACC team this season and tied for the third most in the rally-scoring era of program history for a three-set match.
On Friday against Florida State, the Kensington, Md., native put together her second consecutive match of 19 kills to lead all players in the contest. She ended her freshman season by tallying double-digit kills in each of her last six matches, averaging 4.93 kills per set in the final four matches of the year.
Parchment ended the year with 280 kills, third most on the team. For the week, she averaged 5.43 kills per set and pitched in defensively with 2.57 digs per set, notching a double-double against Syracuse with 11 digs in addition to her 19 kills.
NC State ended the season with a 15-13 overall record and a 9-9 mark in ACC play. The Wolfpack finished the year strong by winning five of its six matches during the month of November.
