RALEIGH, N.C. – R-Sr. Sean Fausz (61 kg) and R-So. Hayden Hidlay (70 kg) will both wrestle for Team USA at the U-23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania, this weekend. NC State is one of only two schools that has a pair of wrestlers among the 10 competing in freestyle.
Â
Hidlay qualified for the U.S. after he placed first at the U23 World Team Trials back in May. Fausz placed fourth at the U23 World Team Trials, and was called up as a replacement last month.
Â
A third member from NC State also qualified by winning the U23 World Team Trials, Michael Macchiavello (92 kg), but it was discovered since he turns 24 later this calendar year he was ineligible to compete.
Â
This is Fausz's second World trip, as he was previously a member of the 2013 Cadet Freestyle World team that competed in Serbia. This will be Hidlay's first such international trip.
