Nate Brookreson Promoted to Assistant Athletics Director

RALEIGH – Nate Brookreson of the NC State athletics department has been promoted to the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning of Olympic Sports, the department announced Wednesday.

"We are excited to have Nate Brookreson on our team," said Raymond Harrison, NC State's Senior Associate AD for Sports Administration and Student Services. "He has been a tremendous teammate and valued professional. His work over the years with the women's basketball and swimming and diving programs have prepared those teams to compete on the national stage. His selfless and collaborative approach has resonated well with staff, coaches, and student-athletes. Under his leadership, the strength and conditioning staff for Olympic Sports has been integral in the holistic development and success of our student-athletes and teams."

Brookreson has served as the Director of Strength & Conditioning for Olympic Sports at NC State since June of 2015. His primary training duties have been with women's basketball, swimming and diving and men and women's golf, while supervising the implementation of training for over 500 student-athletes.Â

"I am thankful to Dr. Yow and Senior Associate AD Raymond Harrison for the opportunity to lead the Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning department," Brookreson said. "It is truly an honor to work with the sport coaches, support staff, and student-athletes to pursue ACC and national championships."
Prior to NC State, Brookreson was the Director of Athletic Performance for Olympic Sports at the University of Memphis from August 2013 until June 2015. While at Memphis, Brookreson worked primarily with men and women's soccer, men and women's golf, and track & field sprinters while supervising training for the Olympic sports department.Â
Before heading to Memphis, Brookreson was the Director of Athletic Performance at Eastern Washington University from October 2010 until August 2013, working primarily with football and volleyball while supervising the training of all EWU student-athletes. He also served as an assistant at the same institution from August 2008 until his appointment to director. Additionally, he served as a student strength and conditioning coach at the University of Georgia, assisting with baseball, softball, swimming and diving, and women's tennis.
A native of Lacey, Washington, Brookreson earned his Bachelor's degree from Central Washington University and Master's degree from Eastern Washington University in exercise science. He is certified (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and (SCCC) the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
Nate is married to Kelsey Brookreson and has two sons, Blaise and Brock.Â
