Fisher Turns in Career Outing in Wolfpack’s Loss at #12 Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – Freshman Emily Fisher turned in a career day, but it wasn't enough as the eighth-ranked NC State rifle team was outdone by No. 12 Ole Miss, 4664-4628, Sunday afternoon inside the Ole Miss Rifle Range.
Fisher recorded a career-high in all three guns, leading the Wolfpack with a score of 587 in air rifle. The Fairfax, Va., native also fired a 571 in smallbore to compile an aggregate total of 1158.
NC State earned a team score of 2286 in smallbore and a 2342 in air rifle to log its score of 4628, while Ole Miss shot a 2312 in smallbore and 2352 in air rifle to achieve a final mark of 4664, the seventh-highest in program history.
The Wolfpack moves to 2-2 on the year and 1-2 in Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) action, while the Rebels improve to 3-3 and 3-2 in conference matches.
Smallbore Notes
- Will Marciniak led the Wolfpack in the smallbore competition with a score of 577, headlined by a perfect 100 in his first series and a 99 in his second series in prone.
- Claire Spina turned in the next-highest score for NC State with a 574 thanks to a 99 on both series of prone.
- Freshman Emily Fisher tallied a career-high 571, while Claire Zanti notched a score of 564. Both fired a 99 on their first series in prone.
- Aron Tinter recorded a 560 and Tyler Lefebvre earned a score of 540.
Air Rifle Notes
- In air rifle, Fisher also recorded a career-high, as her score of 587 was the fifth-best in the match. She tallied scores of 99 on her first and fourth series.
- Tinter achieved a 586 after firing a 99 on his second series and Spina registered a 585 thanks to a 99 on her third series.
- Zanti earned a 584 and logged 99s on her first and fifth series, while Lefebvre recorded a 577.
- Marciniak also competed in the event, firing a score of 563.
Aggregate Notes
- Spina paced the Pack in the aggregate with a score of 1159 to finish fourth among the top individuals, while Fisher was sixth with an 1158.
