TEMPE, Ariz. – The NC State women's tennis team received votes in the first Oracle/ITA team rankings of 2018, released Wednesday by the league office.
"Firstly it's great to see us receiving some recognition from the voters, it's a position we've been working hard to be in the past few years," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "That being said it is a poll and no matches have been played yet, we want to earn a ranking and we can't lose sight of that. Everything we have done up to this point we've had to earn and fight hard for it, that doesn't change this upcoming spring."Â
Â
The ACC saw four teams in the top 25; No. 5 UNC-Chapel Hill, No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Duke and No. 19 Miami. Florida State also received votes.
Â
In 2017 NC State earned its highest ranking in program history, No. 16, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Wolfpack begins its spring season on Jan. 26 when it participates in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Lexington, Kentucky. On Jan. 26 NC State takes on No. 17 UCLA and then either No. 21 Kentucky or Northwestern (RV) on Jan. 27.
