LEXINGTON, Ky. – In its second match at the ITA Kick-Off weekend the NC State women's tennis team secured two-out-of-three doubles wins against #21 Kentucky but could not come away with the victory, falling 4-2 Saturday inside the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
From the Coach
"Much better team performance in doubles today, although we dropped the top spot we managed to play much better in the important games at two & three to get ourselves out front early," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "One thing we talked about prior to the match was improving our intensity level and getting up to match tempo much more quickly than against UCLA, but again we didn't manage that in the early going in singles and weren't able to capitalize on any momentum we might have had carryover from doubles. I thought Anna fought bravely at 1, even after missing out on chances in the first set. Overall we've got to do much a better job of sticking to our game plans and trusting our physical preparation. I strongly believe we've done the work and can play at this level, and in that regard this was good experience for us. Obviously a winning experience is better and if we can continue to grow down the line this weekend will help us."
