Wootten Garners ACC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After an impressive performance in goal last week for the Wolfpack, goalkeeper Sydney Wootten was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning by the league office.
The junior from San Diego, Calif., played all 110 minutes in the Pack's 0-0 2OT draw with third-ranked Virginia, as well as all 90 in its 1-0 victory over Western Carolina. She recorded a combined 10 saves on the weekend, charting a season high of six against the Cavaliers.
She has compiled a 4-1-1 season record as she leads the conference with four shutouts and is second with a .51 goals against average. She additionally is ranked 22nd and 23rd in the NCAA, in respective order, in those categories.
NC State returns to action Thursday when it welcomes Boston College. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
