Kearney, Pickrell Named to Michigan All-Tournament Team

Wolfpack duo earns first all-tournament honors of the season
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Following a stellar weekend at the Michigan Challenge, NC State volleyball's Kaitlyn Kearney and Kylie Pickrell have been named to the all-tournament team. The award is the first honor of its kind for both players this season.

Kearney finished the weekend with 19 kills on 37 attempts, committing just four errors to record a .405 attacking percentage. She opened the tournament with eight kills on 12 swings against Cincinnati, tallying a .583 hitting percentage to help NC State turn in one of the best team attacking percentages in program history with a .447 clip.

Against No. 21 Michigan, Kearney put down five kills to go along with four blocks, including a solo block. The Frisco, Texas, native swatted six kills on 12 attempts in the Wolfpack's 3-0 victory against Milwaukee to chart a .500 attacking percentage.

Kearney leads the team with 54 blocks on the year, averaging 1.29 blocks per set, which ranks sixth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). She has also contributed 85 kills, fourth most on the Wolfpack.

As the team's setter, Pickrell played a pivotal role in the Wolfpack's strong offensive performance. She finished the weekend with 90 assists, averaging 11.25 assists per set. Additionally, Pickrell tallied 13 digs, five blocks and four kills.

Hailing from Coppell, Texas, the junior dished out a match-high 33 assists against Cincinnati, orchestrating an offense that tallied a .447 attacking percentage, the highest for any team in the ACC this season.

She handed out 32 assists in NC State's battle with No. 21 Michigan and followed that performance with 25 against Milwaukee, while only playing two sets in the contest. Pickrell helped NC State finish the weekend with a .298 attacking percentage as a team, averaging 14.44 kills per set.

For the season, Pickrell has collected 382 assists or 9.32 assists per set, which is the seventh highest in the conference.

NC State returns to action at home Friday evening when it opens conference play against UNC-Chapel Hill. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. inside Reynolds Coliseum.
