RALEIGH – After a summer that saw members of the NC State women's tennis team accumulate some impressive results playing on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer Circuit, rising juniors Bianca Moldovan and Amanda Rebol, along with rising sophomores Adriana Reami and Anna Rogers will be competing in the ITA Summer National Championships, at the Bayard H. Freidman Tennis Center in Forth Worth, Texas, from Aug. 12-15.
Both the singles and doubles champions of the event will be awarded a wild card into the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships held at the Riviera Tennis Club from Sept. 30-Oct. 8 in Pacific Palisades, California, while the finalists will be the recipients of a wild card into the ITA All-American qualifying draw.
Multiple members of the Wolfpack are featured prominently in the ITA Summer Circuit Points Race. Rogers currently sits tied for eighth, with 448 points, while Rebol and Moldovan both earned 384 points, which has them tied for 17th.
Rebol is thrilled not only for the chance to compete, but also for the opportunity to be reunited with her teammates.
"We have a small team and four of us are going to the event, so we're really excited to all be back together" she explained. "There's something about the team chemistry on the road that's always an exciting factor. I think we're all just excited to be back together and cheering on our teammates for the whole ride."
Rogers shares her thoughts, as she is eager to begin spending time with her teammates once again.
"I'm really excited to see everyone," she articulated. "I'm glad most of us will be here a few days before we leave for the tournament on Friday; we're all going to support each other at TCU. We've been playing ITAs for pretty much the whole summer, so we're really excited to compete."
The Wolfpack finished the 2016-17 season with a 19-11 overall record, advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Tournament. The team ended the season ranked 26th, which was the highest ranking in program history, and the duo of Martina Frantova and Rogers also etched itself in the history books, as it was the first pairing to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Doubles Championships in program history, following a victory over Pepperdine.
