Marciniak Wins Junior Prone Championship at NRA Nationals

Wolfpack’s rising junior turns in strong performance at nationals
BRISTOL, Ind. – NC State rifle's Will Marciniak turned in a strong performance at the 2017 National Rifle Association (NRA) Nationals, highlighted by winning the prone championship in the high junior competition.

The Wolfpack's rising junior charted a score of 4785 in the prone portion of the smallbore event to claim the top spot in the high junior competition by three points. His total was also just 14 points shy of the overall champion in the event.

Marciniak also took part in the conventional three-position championship in smallbore and claimed a bronze medal in the high junior event with a result of 4647. In the metric three-position grand aggregate high junior, he took third place with his score of 2271.

That mark was also good for ninth among overall competitors in the event.

In the Iron Man Match, which is an aggregate of the prone and conventional three-position events, Marciniak finished sixth with a 9432 clip.

A native of Sewaren, N.J., he was a member of NC State's smallbore counting lineup in each match last season and was in the air rifle counting lineup for six matches. Marciniak charted a career-best score of 580 in smallbore in the Wolfpack's Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) win against Ole Miss.

Additionally, he tallied a personal best in air rifle at the NCAA Qualifier match with a 582 clip.
