With the start of the 2017 NC State Volleyball season rapidly approaching, GoPack.com will be catching up with each member of the team to see how she is spending her summer and how excited she is to start the season. Periodically a Q and A will be posted to the website titled 'Serve and Pass', giving fans an inside look at each player on the squad.

Describe the trip to Italy.
"The trip to Italy was all-around amazing. We got to hang out as a team in another country and we got to do so much sightseeing and play volleyball together. One of the best experiences that I took away from the trip was our first match in Rome.
"We were in this huge dome-type gym with one court and afterwards we went to dinner and the other team joined us. We split into different groups and had a chance to mingle with them and by the end we were all singing and laughing together. It was really cool to meet them and share that experience with them."
What was the best part of the trip?
"My favorite part of the trip was when we went to Porto Venere. A bunch of us swam in this cool cove and it was a lot of fun."
Had you ever been to Italy before?
"I had never been, so it was really cool."
How excited were you when you found out that you would be going to Italy the summer before your senior season?
"I was so excited. It was the program's first international trip and I felt so lucky to be a part of it. It's the summer before my last season and I'm excited to get it started. I think the trip really prepared us as a team and we grew so much as volleyball players, which will both help us as we head into the fall."
Other than the Italy trip, have you taken any other vacations or do you have any planned?
"I've taken a couple vacations. I was in Wrightsville Beach for the Fourth of July and I drove to Texas with my dad in a bus from North Carolina. After we left Texas, we went to Denver for an Avett Brothers concert at Red Rocks."
Back to volleyball, how does it feel to be a senior?
"There are a lot of mixed emotions, it's hard to believe that it has gone by so fast. I'm very excited to get my senior season started because we have so much potential as a team and I think it will be my best season since I've been at NC State. I'm really looking forward to the work that we're going to put in and what we can accomplish."
How would you describe your career up to this point?
"It's been a roller coaster, but I've loved every year and each year keeps getting better. I learn something new every day and it's something that I can take with me after I graduate. I feel very fortunate to play for Linda [Hampton-Keith] and Coach Kevin [Campbell]. I'm happy to have one more season left."
Was there anything in particular that you wanted to work on this summer for the season?
"We're in the weight room pretty much every day to get stronger and conditioning a lot as well. We also have player led open gyms and we keep the competition level high."
What are your individual goals for the season?
"My main goal is for us to make the NCAA Tournament and in order to do that we need to be successful in our non-conference schedule and in ACC play. I'll do whatever the team needs me to do to make it happen. I think we all have the same mindset and we're working really hard."
What do you want to do after graduation? When are you graduating?
"I plan to graduate in May of 2018 and after graduating, I want to play professionally."
