Moore Named to Butkus Watch List

Senior linebacker Airius Moore has been named to the preseason watch list for the Dick Butkus Award, given annually to the nation's top linebacker. Moore is the seventh Wolfpack player to be named to a watch list for a national award in 2017. Those seven players have earned 11 mentions on 10 different award lists.

"Airius is relentless on the field and is one of our hardest hitters," said head coach Dave Doeren. "But what I love about him is that his mental game is even stronger. He has a high football IQ and studies his opponent to make sure he has every advantage."

Moore has played more career games than any other player on the Wolfpack defense and is tied for the most games played on the entire team. An academic All-ACC performer last season, he ranked third on the team in tackles and second in tackles for loss. He was named the defensive MVP for the win over Vanderbilt in the Independence Bowl after tallying nine tackles including two sacks.

Moore is already on the preseason list for the Lott ImPACT Trophy, which is given to the defensive player who combines strong play on the field with strong commitment to community service.
