RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Deputy AD for Internal Operations Michael Lipitz is among 25 current senior-level administrators selected to participate in the NCAA's Pathway Program.
The Pathway Program is designed to elevate those currently in senior-level positions within athletics administration to the next step as a director of athletics. This year-long program is an intensive, experiential learning opportunity for selected participants representing NCAA Divisions I, II and III.
Each program participant is mentored by a current NCAA athletics director and a current university chancellor or president who have committed to helping the Pathway participants grow during the program and after completing it.
A committee that includes current athletics administrators and past program attendees, across all NCAA divisions, selected the participants for the yearlong experiential learning opportunity.
"The Pathway Program is an unmatched opportunity, exposing highly qualified athletics administrators to the latest information and robust experiences, delivered by practiced experts in the field," said Bernard Franklin, NCAA executive vice president of education and community engagement and chief inclusion officer. "Administrators who complete the program not only gain technical knowledge but graduate with confidence and quality decision-making skills."
Lipitz joined the Wolfpack in June 2011. Currently as Deputy AD for Internal Operations, he partners with the Director of Athletics in the day-to-day management and operation of NC State Athletics. He oversees the football, women's basketball, and men's and women's tennis programs, along with personnel and legal matters for athletics, capital projects, facilities, operations and equipment, championships and special events. He is a member of the department's senior leadership team engaged in strategic planning, resource allocation, and crisis management.
Lipitz recently completed a pair of landmark capital projects for the Wolfpack. He led the $35M renovation of historic Reynolds Coliseum, which created the NC State Athletic Walk of Fame & History all-sports museum and reopened in August 2016. He also oversaw planning and construction of the Close-King Indoor Practice Facility, a $14M project completed in June 2015 that serves football, track and field, and other sports.
