CHICAGO - Tziarra King has been selected to the roster for the upcoming United States Soccer Under-19 Women's National Team training camp at the US Soccer National Team Training Center in Carson, Calif., May 13-20.
Last month, King was selected to the U23 National Team in Portland, Ore., for training and three matches versus NWSL teams.
The US U20 and U19 Women's National Teams will conduct overlapping training camps, with both teams playing the Japan U20 WNT during their events. The U19 WNT will kick it off with a camp May 13-20 while the US U20 WNT will be in camp May 18-26.
The U19s will face the Japan U20 WNT Friday, May 19 at 8 p.m. ET, while the U.S. U20s will play Japan twice, Monday, May 22nd and Wednesday, May 24th at 8 p.m. ET. All the matches will be on Field No. 1, Glenn "Mooch" Myernick Field, at the U.S. Soccer NTC at StubHub Center in Carson.
The U19 WNT roster will feature 24 players, four of whom were part of the USA's 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Team, and is made up of 11 players born in 1998, 12 in 1999 and one in 2000. The U-19 roster has nine college players with the rest still playing youth club.
"Zee showed well when playing up with the older U-23 team last month and is a deserved call-up to this U19 camp," said head coach Tim Santoro. "She's proven to be one of the top attackers in the ACC so this selection is a logical step for US Soccer."
In her freshman campaign, King started all 22 matches in a season where the Wolfpack broke into the national scene. The season concluded with a run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in the team's first NCAA Championship appearance since 1996. King led the team with eight goals and 17 points, and was selected to the All-ACC Third Team, All-ACC Freshman Team and the NSCAA Southeast All-Region Team.
