Softball Concludes Regular Season With Loss To Louisville

RALEIGH - The NC State softball team concluded its regular season on Sunday afternoon at Dail Stadium with a 7-0 loss to Louisville.

The Cardinals take the series, improving to 31-18 (14-8 ACC), and the Wolfpack moves to 17-37 (10-14 ACC) on the season.

Game Rewind
-The Cards quickly took a 1-0 lead in the first, as Morgan Meyer opened the contest with a double to left center and scored on a one-out single to left field.
-The Pack looked to answer in the bottom frame, loading the bases with an outfield single, hit-by-pitch and walk on two outs.
-UL extended its lead to three in the third inning with a 2-RBI double to left field.
-NC State loaded the bases again in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of singles by Alyssa Compton and Cheyenne Balzer followed by Haylee Kobizak's walk, but a pair of strikeouts ended the side.
-Louisville plated another run in the fourth with a solo shot to left center.
-The teams were kept ay bay through the fifth, and UL scored three more runs in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead. Nicole Pufahl drove in a run with a single to left field, and a two-run homer by Jenna Jordan brought in the other two.
-The Pack looked to rally in the final half inning as Compton led off with a single up the middle and Molly Martin hit a two-out single through the left side, but a groundout ended the game.

Inside The Box Score
-Peyton Silverman earned the start in the circle, and was relieved by Brittany Nimmo in the fourth inning.
-Compton was 3-for-3 on the day, while Macauley Prickett tallied two hits in her three plate appearances.

On Deck
NC State will face the Cardinals in the first round of the ACC Championship May 11 at 5 p.m. UNC-Chapel Hill will play host to the tournament, as all games will be contested at Anderson Stadium.
