RALEIGH – Jon Choboy has stepped down as NC State's men's tennis coach after 15 seasons to pursue other professional opportunities.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to lead NC State over the last 15 years," said Choboy. "I appreciate all of the contributions of our players and staff during my tenure, and I'm proud of many of our accomplishments."
Choboy posted a 217-193 (.529) overall record, including a 54-106 (.338) mark in ACC play. He led his teams to six NCAA Tournament appearances during his 15 seasons, highlighted by a run to the Elite Eight in 2007.
"We thank Jon for his 15 years of service to NC State and appreciate his efforts on behalf of our men's tennis program and student-athletes," said deputy athletics director and sport supervisor Michael Lipitz. "We wish he and his family well in the future."
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately, led by Lipitz. Maciek Sykut will continue in his role as assistant coach and manage the team in the interim period.
