Anton Ipsen Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

RALEIGH— Anton Ipsen of the NC State men's swimming and diving team has been named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, as announced Thursday.
The rising senior is one of 12 student-athletes to be selected from District Three, which includes North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Ipsen carries a perfect 4.0 GPA in Industrial Engineering, is a three-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree and a two-time CSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-American.Â
Additionally, Ipsen was honored for his excellence in the pool and classroom this year by garnering ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.Â
In the pool, the Birkerod, Denmark, native played a pivotal role in the Wolfpack's historic season. At the NCAA Championships he earned All-America honors in three events, placing sixth in the 1,650 freestyle, eighth in the 500 freestyle and 11th in the 400 individual medley.Â
During ACCs, he won his third-straight ACC title in the 500 free, finished runner-up in the 1,650 free and placed fifth in the 400 individual medley, helping the team to win its third-straight conference championship.
Ipsen is the current school record holder in three events: the 500 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle and 400 individual medley.
