Three From Pack Softball Garner All-ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jade Caraway, Tyler Ross and Peyton Silverman of the NC State softball team garnered 2017 All-ACC honors, as released by the league office on Thursday.
Ross is an All-ACC First Team selection, Caraway was named to the All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Freshman Team and Silverman earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that the Wolfpack has had at least one player named to an All-ACC team.
The Wolfpack earned 10 wins in conference play this season, including series wins over Syracuse and Georgia Tech as well as a sweep over Virginia.
Caraway, a Winter Garden, Fla., native has made an immediate impact in her freshman campaign, starting all 54 games in center field and leading the team with a .386 batting average, 176 at bats and 68 hits. She ranks third in the ACC and 30th in the NCAA in hits, and sixth in the conference in batting average.
Ross is wrapping up her final collegiate season as one of the top hitters in conference play, boasting a .380 clip along with 30 hits, 26 RBIs and eight home runs against ACC opponents. This marks the second time the Cameron, N.C., native has been named to the All-ACC Team, as she tabbed second team honors in 2015.
Starting in left field all 54 games this season, she leads the team in eight offensive categories, including 11 home runs to tie for fourth in the ACC standings.
Silverman, who hails from South Windsor, Conn., has paced the Pack in the circle with 222.1 innings pitched, the second most among the conference, and 12 wins. She has additionally struck 131 batters, which ranks fifth in the ACC, and thrown 23 complete games in her 43 appearances - the most of any pitcher in the league.
NC State begins postseason play Thursday in the 2017 ACC Championship quarterfinal as the No. 7 seed, and will face No. 2 seed Louisville at 5 p.m. UNC-Chapel Hill will play host, as all the games will be contested at Anderson Stadium.
