No. 35 NC State Bounces Back with Win Over Michigan State

RALEIGH—The No. 35 NC State women's tennis team defeated Michigan State at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 6-1. The Wolfpack improved its record to 9-6 while Michigan State falls to a 9-3 season record.

Match Recap
The Wolfpack grabbed an early lead in the match by taking the doubles point with wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The duo of Claudia Wiktorin and Bianca Moldovan was first to finish, defeating Michigan State's Metcalf and Nguyen, 6-2. No. 30 Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers followed suit with a win in the top doubles position, taking down the Spartans' Faulkner and Baer, 6-2, to secure the doubles point. In No. 3 doubles, Adriana Reami and Tayla Stenta led over Michigan State's Trouillot and Memije, 4-3, before the match went unfinished.
In singles, the Wolfpack continued to control the courts with five consecutive straight-set wins. Amanda Rebol was first to finish, finding a win on court six over Michigan State's Athena Trouillot, 6-2, 6-4. Shortly after, Moldovan outplayed MSU's Lexi Baylis on court five, winning 6-2, 6-3. The Wolfpack clinched the match with a win on court four as Reami beat Davina Nguyen, 6-2, 6-2.
On court three, Rogers gave the Wolfpack a 5-0 lead, taking down the Spartan's Emily Metcalf, 7-5, 6-4. The final point of the day was earned by Wiktorin, who defeated Erin Faulkner on court two, 6-3, 7-6(6).
The Spartans earned their only point of the day in the top singles position as No. 34 Frantova fell to Aslina Cha, 6-4, 6-7, 5-10.
