AUBURN, Ala. — The Wolfpack kicked off the Zone B Diving Championships on Monday with the men's one-meter and women's three-meter events. The Wolfpack's showing was highlighted by Stewart Spanbauer's top-12 finish in the men's one-meter competition.
Radman's Recap
"'Win or learn' is our new motto. If we don't win, at least we have something to learn from," said head diving coach Yahya Radman. "Rachel and Madeline did a very, very fine job. They're both still very young and have a lot of improvement ahead. Some of the dives they weren't supposed to do very well on they came out and did fantastic, but it's a work in progress so I'm excited to see what they do tomorrow and on platform.
"Harrison and James did a fine job—the higher they go, the better they become—so I'm happy about that. But the shining star of the day is Stewart Spanbauer. For not coming not sure about being a DI athlete he has definitely made is mark. The number one question has been 'why wasn't he at conference?' And he is our secret weapon. Very impressive—he finished in the top-12—which is a goal we achieved, and now if he were to qualify on either of the other two boards he would be eligible to dive one-meter at the NCAA Championships. So a big goal of ours was to get the kids into 12th-place position. So we hit the mark with Stewart, and I'm really excited to see what the rest of the week brings."
