GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ten from the NC State men's and women's cross country teams have been named to the 2016 All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Team, announced Thursday by the league office. The selection marks the largest in program history.
The women's team placed seven student-athletes on the team, as Ryen Frazier, Elly Henes, Erika Kemp, Rachel Koon, Kaitlyn Kramer, Megan Moye and Alyssa Rudawsky earned the honor.
Together the squad garners an impressive average GPA of 3.702, highlighted by perfect 4.0s from Textile Engineering major Kramer and Communication graduate student Moye, as well has a 3.924 GPA from Psychology major Rudawsky.
The women's program earned its second-highest finish in history this season, as the team took fourth place at the NCAA Championships to earn a spot on the podium. Kemp and Koon led the way with 17th and 25th place finishes, respectively, both of which tabbed the pair All-American status.
Three from the men's team, Elijah Moskowitz, Aubrey Myjer and Sam Parsons, captured the honor as well. The trio averages a 3.25 GPA.
The men's team's season was highlighted by a third place finish at ACCs, a first place finish at Regionals and a 22nd place finish at NCAAs.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career. The selection is also based on a student-athlete's athletic performance, as well as national and conference accolades.
