
Pack Drops Road Contest at Wake Forest

Sophomore guard Torin Dorn registers double-double off-the-bench
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NC State men's basketball team lost to Wake Forest, 88-58, Saturday afternoon inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The loss dropped NC State's record to 14-12, 3-10 ACC, while Wake Forest improved to 15-10, 6-7 ACC.
Wake Forest's lead was four points, 14-10, with 11:23 to go in the first half, before the Demon Deacons went on an 11-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 25-12 lead with 6:47 to go until halftime. Wake and the Pack played even over the next four-plus minutes as NC State trailed 36-24 with 2:20 remaining, but Wake Forest scored the final eight points of the first half to go into the break with a 44-24 halftime lead. NC State would not get closer than 18 points the rest of the way.
Torin Dorn came off-the-bench to finish with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. It is the third double-double of the season for Dorn and his first in ACC play.
Dennis Smith, Jr., led the Pack in scoring for the 13th time this season, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
NC State entered Saturday's contest having made at least five three-pointers in every ACC game this year, but was just 2-of-15 from long distance against the Demon Deacons. Senior guard Terry Henderson, who had connected on 16-of-29 (55.2%) three-pointers in the Pack's last four games, was 0-of-5 Saturday at Wake Forest.
NC State returns to action Wednesday evening when it hosts UNC-Chapel Hill at PNC Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be televised on the ACC Network.
