Four goals and a 4.00 GPA highlight senior captain’s final season in Raleigh

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior captain Julius Duchscherer of the NC State men's soccer team made history on Thursday afternoon, becoming the first Wolfpack men's soccer player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for the second consecutive season.
At the end of the 2016 season, Duchscherer was named a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American. On Thursday, he was named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American, becoming one of just 11 players nationally to earn the honor.
The native of Hadamar, Germany, concluded his Wolfpack playing career with a 4.00 GPA while studying business administration. During the 2017 season, he helped lead NC State to a home ACC Championship match for the first time in program history and a trip to the first round of the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2009.
Duchscherer worked through an early-season injury to play in 12 of the Wolfpack's 18 matches this season, scoring four goals (two match-winners) and making eight starts. He finished his NC State career having scored 18 goals (five match-winners) and dishing out six assists in 44 total matches.
