NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb has been named the 2017 recipient of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which is  presented annually to the nation's top defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club. The announcement was made at a banquet at the Charlotte Convention Center on Monday night.
Â
"This is a proud moment for me as a head coach, for our entire team and for NC State University," said NC State head coach Dave Doeren. "Bradley is everything that's right about college football and it's so great to see his hard work and dedication be rewarded on a national stage."
Â
Chubb led the ACC in tackles for loss and sacks and set the NC State career records in both categories this season. He was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year last week and is also a finalist for the Bednarik and Hendricks Awards.Â
