Wolfpack Gives Back to Community Through Toys for Tots Program

Giving: it's what the Christmas season is all about. Members of the Wolfpack football team were able to get into that spirit on Thursday thanks to the generosity of Wolfpack Nation.
At recent men's and women's basketball games, Wolfpack fans donated over 450 toys and $3,000+ for the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program. Seventeen football players visited a local ToysRUs this week to purchase toys using that money.
Because the seniors had a meeting at the same time as the shopping trip, the group of 17 Santa's helpers was made up mostly of freshman, who had a blast selecting toys for specific genders and age groups. The elder statesmen of the group, Ryan Finley, A.J. Cole and Garrett Bradbury, stuck to sports-themed items for boys in their age group. When it was time to check out, Cole even used his phone to "price-match" from other stores and ended up being able to get more toys with their allotment.
Xavier Lyas and Grant Gibson had a blast shopping for a 8-10 year old girl, hitting up the Moana aisle and debating for a while about where to purchase WWE action figures (they ultimately decided against!). Kelvin Harmon and Louis Acceus found Ripsticks and although they weren't able to buy them, had a blast riding them while they shopped.
The players rolled cart after cart of toys out to the parking lot, where some Marines loaded the toys onto a huge truck. The toys will be taken to a distribution center where volunteers will sort them and send them out to local groups who will use them to brighten the Christmases of many children.
