
Duke Holds Off NC State Volleyball for Five-Set Win

DURHAM, N.C. – After defeating Duke in the first meeting of the season, the NC State volleyball team could not complete the season sweep as the Blue Devils held on for the 3-2 (26-24, 14-25, 15-25, 26-24, 8-15) victory Wednesday afternoon inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

NC State won the opening set for the 21st time this season, but Duke countered by winning the next two to grab a 2-1 lead in the match. The Wolfpack would not be denied in the fourth and pushed the match to a fifth set before the Blue Devils earned the victory.

The Pack falls to 19-11 on the year and 14-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while Duke moves to 18-12 and 10-9 in conference action.

Match Rewind
- NC State scored five unanswered points to overcome a three-point deficit and grab a 20-18 lead in the opening frame.
- Duke countered with a 6-2 run to own set point at 24-22, but the Wolfpack fought off both attempts with a kill from Melissa Evans and a service ace from Kylie Pickrell.
- Bree Bailey and Lauryn Terry teamed up on the block assist to give NC State set point and a Duke ball-handling error gave the Pack a 26-24 first-set victory.

- Kaitlyn Kearney matched her season high with nine blocks.
