Also known as the Rollie Geiger Award, this is the second-straight year Coach Henes has received the honor.
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- NC State women's cross country head coach Laurie Henes has been named the NCAA Southeast Region Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday afternoon. The honor is also known as the Rollie Geiger Award, honoring the legendary NC State head coach that is in his 39th season with the Wolfpack cross country program and currently serves as the men's head coach.
This is the third overall and second-straight Southeast Region Coach of the Year award for Henes, who also received the honor in 2007 and 2016.

Henes, a Wolfpack track & field/cross country alumna, most recently led the Pack to a first-place finish last week at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, highlighted by All-Region performances from Dominique Clairmonte, Elly Henes, Beth Taye and Rachel Koon. With the win, the Pack captured back-to-back Southeast Region titles for the first time since 2006-07.
Prior to Regionals, Henes and the Pack claimed their second ACC title in a row in dominant fashion, with all five scorers taking home All-ACC honors. Clairmonte, Henes, Koon, Taye and Ryen Frazier were each named all-conference following the meet.
Henes is set to lead the Wolfpack women to their 31st NCAA National Championships appearance this week, more than any other Division I program. The national meet is set for Saturday, Nov. 18 at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
