Finley Named Top 10 Finalist for Unitas Golden Arm Award

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State quarterback Ryan Finley has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. The original list has been trimmed from 47 in the preseason, and Finley is the lone ACC quarterback to make the final 10.

The redshirt-junior has been outstanding through the first eight games of 2017, he is one of just four ACC QBS to throw for a TD in every game this season.

He currently ranks second in the ACC and 8th in the FBS with a .694 completion mark.

Against Notre Dame, Finley threw his first interception of the season. He had a streak of 339 consecutive attempts without an INT dating back to last season. That streak is second-best in both ACC and NC State history.

Candidates for the Golden Arm Award – which has been presented at the end of each college football season since 1987 – must be college seniors or fourth-year juniors on schedule to graduate with their class. In addition to the accomplishments on the field, candidates are judged on their character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, and leadership qualities.
