Chubb Named Chuck Bednarik Award Semifinalist

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State senior defensive end Bradley Chubb has been named a semifinalist for the 2017 Chuck Bednarik Award, which is given annually to the nation's most outstanding defensive player of the year.

The semifinal field was trimmed down to 18 players, led by five from the ACC.

Chubb posts the 7^th-best individual sacks mark in the nation (1^st in the ACC) with 0.80 per contest. He also ranks second in the FBS this week in tackles for loss with 2.1 per game.

Chubb has been honored by every outlet that chooses a midseason team, and was a consensus choice by both CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated.

Semifinalist voting will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and will close on Nov. 19. Three finalists for each award will be announced on Nov. 20 and a second round of voting will take place at that time.

The winner of the 23rd Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, which will be broadcasted live on ESPN on Dec. 7, 2017.
