RALEIGH, N.C. - With the second half of the NC State wrestling season starting next Wednesday with a home ACC dual against Duke, here is some @PackWrestle news you might of missed over the Winter Break.
• Recent Results
While the majorioty of the Pack's starters were competing at the Midlands Championships over the Winter Break - @PackWrestle finished sixth as a team, with one title and five on the podium overall - other members of @PackWrestle traveled to both the Wilkes Open and the Southern Scuffle to see action.
- Wilkes Open (Dec. 22)
At the Wilkes Open, junior Nicky Hall wrestled up a weight class and brought home top honors at 197 pounds. Hall recorded three decisions on the day, including a 2-1 win over Jeric Kasunic of American who has been ranked at 197 pounds for many weeks over the last two years.
In addition to Hall winning his weight class, @PackWrestle also had three others finish in the top-four in their weight classes. Junior Sam Melikian went 6-1 and was third at 157 pounds, freshman Tariq Wilson was third with a 4-1 record at 133 pounds, and freshman Mike Rogers was 2-2 for fourth at 285 pounds.
Current starter at 125 pounds, freshman Tommy Cox, also saw action at the Wilkes Open and went 2-2.

- Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2)
Redshirt-junior Chad Pyke had an impressive showing at the prestigious Southern Scuffle, finishing in seventh place with his 4-2 record at 165 pounds. Pyke started with a 12-1 major decision. In second round action, Pyke took out two-time All-American Mitch Minotti of Lehigh 3-1 - Minotti was ranked No. 5 nationally at the time by FloWrestling and was the tournament's second seed. After a narrow 3-2 loss knocked him into the consolation bracket, Pyke came back with a 9-2 decision and wrapped him his day with a second period pin over Drew Longo of Lehigh.

• Wolfpack RTC members in action
While @PackWrestle is preparing for the second half of the season to get underway, many members of the The Wolfpack Olympic Regional Training Center are currently at the U.S. National Team training camp in Colorado Springs. Current members of @PackWrestle senior Pete Renda and freshman Hayden Hidlay - both of whom are redshirting this season - and members of the RTC Nick Gwiazdowski, Tommy Gantt and Timmy McCall are all currently training at the home of USA Wrestling this weekend.
• 2017 World Cup Roster
Nick Gwiazdowski has also been added to USA Wrestling's roster for the World Cup taking place next month in Tehran. The U.S. placed fourth last year, but is taking its A-squad this year, which includes Gwiazdowski at 125 kg.
