Brady and Mitchell finish in top 20 on one meter
.KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Madeline Kline and Stewart Spanbauer of the NC State diving team earned top-12 finishes in their respective events on Tuesday afternoon at the Tennessee Diving Invitational inside the Jones Aquatic Center.
Kline finished 12th in the women's three-meter competition and Spanbauer took 12th overall in the men's one-meter dive.
In the prelims Kline posted a score of 278.70 to take 11th and advance to the finals where she tabbed a mark of 209.75. Spanbauer notched a prelims score of 283.75 to grab a spot in the finals, as he finished with a 248.25.
"I was very impressed with Madeline and Stewart, as they had a lot of consistency this morning to battle for a spot in the finals," said head diving coach Yahya Radman. "Our next task is to build confidence and a sense of belonging in the finals. As a general consensus you don't put too much emphasis on how to perform in the finals, and rely on instinct to step up and do that. I believe that we still have a lot of time though to develop those skills."
The Wolfpack also saw strong performances on the men's side from James Brady and Harrison Mitchell, as both turned in top 20 finishes. Brady finished 14th in the final standings with a score of 281.20 and Mitchell took 19th with a 262.80.
Bailey Revels also represented the Pack on the women's side, as she finished 48th with a total of 187.10.
NC State will return to action Wednesday at the Tennessee Diving Invite. Competition is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m., as the schedule will consist of the women's one-meter and men's three-meter dives.
