Abu and Rowan lead the Pack with 13 points
LOUISVILLE, KY. - The NC State men's basketball team could not win a second straight road game at a ranked opponent as the Pack fell at 13th-ranked Louisville, 85-60, Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Pack opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers by Terry Henderson and Maverick Rowan to take an early 6-0 lead. Louisville responded with a 21-3 run over the next 7:22 to take a 21-9 lead. NC State would not get closer than nine points the rest of the way as Louisville went into the halftime break with a 45-33 lead.
Louisville opened the second half on an 11-2 run to effectively put the game out of reach.
Rowan and Abdul-Malik Abu each scored 13 points to lead NC State. They were the only two players to reach double figures for the Pack. Freshman Dennis Smith, Jr., finished with eight points and a team-best six assists and three steals. It was the 13th consecutive game Smith led the Pack in steals, but it was the first time this season he finished in single digits scoring after registering double figures in points in the first 21 games this season.
NC State returns to action Wednesday evening at PNC Arena when it hosts Syracuse. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
