Wolfpack tabbed preseason top 25 by Perfect Game

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The NC State baseball team will start the 2017 season ranked No. 14 in the Perfect Game Preseason Poll, announced Wednesday by the organization.

The Wolfpack ended the 2016 season with a 38-22 overall record, capped by hosting an NCAA Regional for the fifth time in program history, all of which have come under the leadership of head coach Elliott Avent.

NC State returns a strong core from last year's squad, including All-ACC selections Evan Mendoza, Josh McLain and Brett Kinneman, who was also tabbed a Freshman All-American in 2016.

The Pack is one of five ACC programs in the preseason poll and has a total of 15 games versus teams listed in the ranking this season.

NC State opens the 2017 campaign Friday, Feb. 17, when the squad travels to Honolulu for a three-game series against Hawaii in the first meeting between the programs.
