Three From Women’s Golf To Play In World Am

Bettel, Ko and Taylor to play in team championship
RALEIGH- Sophomores Leonie Bettel and Naomi Ko and Wolfpack alumna Rachael Taylor of the NC State women's golf team have been recently selected to represent their home countries in the 2016 World Amateur Women's Team Championship.
Bettel will represent Austria while Ko has been chosen for Team Canada and Taylor will compete for Scotland. The championship will be held Sept. 14-17 at Mayakoba El Camaleón and Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Clubs in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Ko recently wrapped up play in her third professional tournament of the summer, as she competed at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open. Despite missing the 36-hole cut, she shot strong scores of 74 and73 for a three-over par total of 147. She additionally played in the United States Women's Open and Portland Classic this summer, which are both sponsored by the LPGA.
Taylor has also had a summer filled with strong tournament play, as she recently advanced to the second stage of LPGA Qualifying School on Aug. 28. She finished 27th overall with an even-par score of 288 (76-67-73-72).
Bettel additionally has experience at the international level as she had a strong showing over the summer in various European amateur and professional tournaments. She made the cut at the Citizenguard LETAS Trophy 2016 and helped Team Austria finish 3-0 at the European Ladies Amateur Team Championship.
Each team has two or three players and plays 18-holes of stroke play for four days. In each round, the total of the two lowest scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round. The four-day (72-hole) total is the team's score for the championship and will take home the Espirito Santo Trophy.
