RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team will continue its home ACC slate, as it hosts in-state rival Wake Forest Sunday at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium. Both team are currently receiving votes in the NSCAA Poll.
The Pack comes into the match with a (7-3-0, 1-1-0 ACC) record, while Wake Forest enters with an 8-2-0 (0-2-0 ACC) record. Both programs are coming off losses to nationally ranked conference opponents. NC State dropped a tight 1-0 decision to No. 24 Notre Dame and Wake Forest fell at No. 3 Florida State on Thursday night.
Scouting Wake Forest:
The Demon Deacons enter the match with a two-match losing streak to open conference play, but won eighth straight to the start the season. The visitors are paced by a solid offense and defense. Wake is outscoring opponents 20-7 this season and only allowed two goals during non-conference play.
Maddie Huster and Bayley Feist lead the attack, as double digit point scorers. Huster has recorded five goals and three assists for 13 points, while Feist has tallied four goals and two assists for 10 points.
Wake Forest won the last meeting between the two schools from a 1-0 victory in Winston Salem, N.C., in 2014. However, the Pack knocked off the No. 23 Demon Deacons squad the year before with a 2-1 victory at home to close out the season.
Don't Blink:
The NC State freshmen class is growing up quickly. Just 37 days ago, the group hadn't played a single minute of college soccer. They now account for five players in the Pack's starting lineup, eight have recorded either a goal or assist, and 10 have seen playing time.
The group is continuing to make a big impact and has scored the team's last eight goals. Overall, freshmen have accounted for 64 percent of the team's points from 14 goals and 16 assists.
On the Rise:
NC State is in the midst of a breakout year. The team had one of the best starts to a season in recent history, winning seven of its first nine matches, including a win over No. 7 North Carolina. Read more about the team's breakthrough season so far.

Last Time Out:
The NC State women's soccer team narrowly fell to No. 24 Notre Dame 1-0 Thursday night. The Fighting Irish scored in the 38th minute and held off a strong Wolfpack rally throughout the second half to escape with the win.
The Pack tallied nine shots and eight corner kicks in the match and forced four saves from the Irish keeper. After Notre Dame opened the scoring, the Pack dominated the second half with possession and chances, but came a few touches short in the final third.
