Q: You were a two-year starter at South Alabama, what led you to decide to transfer for your final season?
A: I really wanted to challenge myself, it has been a dream of mine to play at this level of football.
Q: What led you to pick NC State in that process?
A: I visiting here out of high school, so I did have some familiarity with the school and Raleigh. It is a great school, and a great atmosphere for football. When I was redshirting at South Alabama in 2012, I actually traveled with the team up here and saw the great environment. I really fell in love with it.
Q: What do you like about living in Raleigh?
A: I like NC State football the most right now. Raleigh is so close to a lot of different areas, the mountains and Charlotte then over to the coast and the beaches. You can really go anywhere and do anything just with a drive. It is a whole new experience for me, I never spend a lot of time in North Carolina before. It's a great place.
Q: You played against NC State last year in a game in Mobile, what do you remember about that game?
A: 63-13! I remember playing against a bunch of tough guys, and I really respected them after the game. If you can't beat them, join them I guess. I enjoyed playing against those guys, getting after them. I remember B.J. (Hill), and those other inside guys, just battling against them every play. When I got up here, we remembered each other, so that helped in me joining the team.
Q: The offensive line has been branded as the Band of Brothers, how was the transition for you coming into that group?
A: It has been really good, all the guys took me in with open arms. I was really thankful for that. I wasn't really worried about fitting in being the new guy, because I knew if I was myself they would accept me. All the guys have really helped me a lot. Me and Tony (Adams) bonded really quickly because I lived with him, (John) Tu'uta and Terrone (Prescod) so all those three guys I really bonded with them really fast.
Q: What were your feelings running out onto Carter-Finley for the first time?
A: That was special, it is definitely an atmosphere I can get used to. I'm looking forward to the rest of the home games here. It was an awesome feeling knowing that a lot of hard work paid off.
Q: Your dad played and coached in college, how much of a help has he been during your career?
A: It has helped tremendously. He has done a great job of not being my coach, but being my dad. The football part of our lives is so common, which is awesome because we can sit down and talk football, or just talk life. He helps me with little things on the field, but he doesn't over-coach me because he knows the great coaches we have here.
Q: You earned a degree in leisure studies from South Alabama and are taking classes here at NC State. After your playing days, how do you envision using your degree?
A: I want to coach, and my ultimate goal is to be a general manager in the NFL. I would love to coach in college and the NFL for a while, then work my way into the front office in the NFL.
