NC State Moves into the National Polls

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's soccer team has landed in several national polls following its sixth straight win. It's ranked 17th in the HeroSports Bennett Rank, 23rd in the Soccer America Poll, 27th in the Top Drawer Soccer National Poll, 29th in RPI and 35th in the NSCAA National Poll.
The Wolfpack enters week five with a 7-2-0 (1-0-0 ACC) record. The Pack has posted four straight shutouts in the midst of its six-match winning streak.
NC State first appeared in the national rankings last week, checking in at No. 23 HeroSports' Bennett Rank. The Pack's win over No. 7 UNC helped the team move to No. 17 in the computer-generated poll and helped it make season debuts in the national polls.
The win over the Tar Heels was propelled by a strong defense. Goalie Sydney Wootten earned the ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor and Kristina Schuster added a Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week award.
NC State faces a pair of tough home matches this week, with No. 23 Notre Dame Thursday at 7 p.m. and Wake Forest, who is receiving votes in the national poll, Sunday at 7 p.m.
