CARY, N.C. – Nick Horton concluded play at the Cary Tennis Championships, falling 6-2, 6-2 to World No. 175 Ernesto Escobedo in the opening round of the main draw. Escobedo, the No. 3 overall seed moves on to the second round in the Challenger.
It marks the second year in a row Horton has leveraged an impressive summer of tennis into a main draw appearance at the Cary Tennis Championships.
The senior will turn his attention to the fall ITA season, which is set to begin this weekend with the James Bonk Invite, hosted by Duke at the Cary Tennis Center.
Former Wolfpacker James McGee is still competing in the event. After advancing out of the qualifying draw, McGee defeated Evan King, 7-5, 7-6(3), in the opening round of the main draw on Monday. King is currently ranked No. 361 in the World ATP rankings.
