How excited are you to start your junior season Friday?
"I can't believe that the start of the season is here already. I'm super excited about it, we've been working so hard this summer and in preseason and I can't wait for it to all come together. It will be nice to get out on the court and compete against a different team.
Â
"We're going to go out and compete like we know we can and we can't wait to shock a lot of people. It'll be really exciting playing and traveling with the team again."
Â
How did you think the Red and White Scrimmage went yesterday for the team and yourself?
"As a team, there were some really good moments and there was definitely a lot of energy on our team. There were some really good things happening, especially with our setter-hitter connections, which we've been working on a lot. It was exciting to see how our setters and hitters were connecting yesterday.
Â
"For me, I think it went well. I'm starting to get a clearer understanding of my role and Coach Hampton-Keith has given me a lot of trust in my role to go out there and play with a lot of passion and heart to contribute what I can to the team."
Â
How excited are you to play in the newly renovated Reynolds Coliseum?
"There aren't even words to describe how excited I am. I cannot wait. I think that the juniors and seniors are especially excited to get back in Reynolds since we played in there before the renovation. I think we're all really excited to get back in there and see the renovations.
Â
"I don't even want to look at the updates on social media, I just want it to be this grand reveal when I go back in there for the first time. It's going to be awesome to be on the first team to play in Reynolds after the renovation."
Â
What are your goals for the team this year?
"Our main goal is to make it to the NCAA tournament. That's our main focus and everything we've been doing has been with that goal in mind. In addition to that, we just want to get better everyday, individually and as a team. We have to recognize the things that we're doing well, but also the things that we're not doing so well."
What's your individual goal for the year?
"My individual goal is to contribute to the success of the team and do everything I can. I want to improve my passing so that I can be a back row player. I also want to contribute a lot of energy and focus to the team. I want to be more of a vocal leader on the court, always talking and communicating to find a way to get better. I want to contribute whatever I can, whether it's on the court or not."
Â
Talk about how you spent your summer.
"I was here all summer, because I stayed for summer session I and II. Summer session I was a lot more relaxed since there weren't as many people here, so I did a lot of traveling and went to the beach a lot. For summer II, we were all here working out to get better. I think my summer went well and I'm excited to be back in the swing of things."
