NC State Volleyball’s Porter Awarded Scholarship

Sophomore setter Becky Porter has been awarded a scholarship by the NC State volleyball program, as head coach Linda Hampton-Keith announced at the conclusion of a team meeting.
"Becky embodies all of the characteristics that we look for in a student-athlete," said Hampton-Keith. "Since our staff arrived in the spring, she has done everything that we've asked of her and has had a very positive attitude about the program. We value what she brings to the team and we wanted to show her with a scholarship."
Porter is a native of Charlotte, N.C., and a former Under Armour High School All-American at Providence High School. Last season, she was named the ACC Freshman of the Week after handing out a match-high 42 assists against Notre Dame and 31 assists versus No. 23 Louisville.
"I was extremely surprised and shocked when Coach Hampton-Keith announced that I would be put on scholarship," said Porter. "I'm very excited and thankful that the coaches have decided to give me a scholarship."
In addition to her performance on the court, Porter is also a perfect 4.0 student, majoring in agricultural business management.
NC State fans can get their first glimpse of the 2016 Wolfpack volleyball squad Sunday at 2 p.m. for the Red and White Intrasquad Scrimmage held in Carmichael Gym on courts 9-11.
