Wolfpack Drops Exhibition Opener at No. 21 Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – The NC State men's soccer team fell in its first of two exhibition matches Monday morning, losing at No. 21 Coastal Carolina.
The Wolfpack took an early lead in the first half when sophomore Simon Blotko flicked a nice backheel past the Chanticleers' starting goalkeeper. Immediately prior to the goal, senior Travis Wannemuehler struck a volley towards the target which was deflected by a defender and fell to Blotko.
Coastal Carolina rallied late in the first half to level the match and took a lead it would not relinquish early in the second half.
The Wolfpack continues exhibition play on Saturday, August 20 at VCU. Kickoff from Richmond, Va., is set for 5 p.m. NC State then officially opens the 2016 season at the James Madison Invitational on Friday, Aug. 26 against Radford.
